A.N.D.Y.
A mecanum-drive stacking machine with a U-shaped internal stacker and recycling container claw.

The Game
Recycle Rush challenged robots to stack totes six high and “cap” them with recycling containers. Working with other teams, A.N.D.Y. could easily score a maximum of 42 points per stack.
The Robot
A.N.D.Y. featured a mecanum drive that was able to traverse the field with ease and high maneuverability around stacks. Its stacker featured a U-shaped internal stacking system with a “plastic magnet” — it held every tote individually to prevent the totes from coming out of the robot. A.N.D.Y. was able to build 5-tall stacks and cap any height stack using its main feature, the claw. The claw could pick up recycling containers from any position and place them on stacks our alliance created.

The team received the Engineering Inspiration award at the Purdue District and the Gracious Professionalism award at the IN District, where Connor Osborne was named a Dean’s List Finalist. At the FIRST World Championship, the team was selected for the #6 alliance on Newton Field and made it to the quarterfinals. The team also attended IRI.
